How To Return Xfinity Equipment (For All Services)

How To Return Xfinity Equipment

Need to know how to return Xfinity equipment? It’s easier than it sounds. You have three options – the first two apply if you need UPS to handle your return.

You can use the Xfinity website to arrange for shipping with UPS. If you choose this route, you can get UPS to pick up your package at your home or office or you can take your device to a UPS outlet yourself.

The final option is to cut out the middle-man and take your equipment to an Xfinity store yourself. It has its advantages.

Specifically, you’ll be handling the transaction in person, so representatives can talk to you directly if there’s anything else they need from you.

Besides that, there’s no waiting time before your return is registered in your account history.

If you’re returning xFi Pods, camera or video doorbell equipment, or mobile phones, you follow a slightly different process than you would for leased equipment. We’ll cover this side of things too.

Would you like more detailed help? Let’s talk about when you should return Xfinity equipment and look at detailed instructions on how it should be done.

We hope you’ll find that it’s much easier to return Xfinity equipment than you thought it would be!

When Must You Return Xfinity Equipment

Xfinity Router Return

If you’re canceling any service you bought through Comcast, you’ll have to return all the equipment you received. That also applies if you’re upgrading to a service that offers a new device or set of devices.

For most services, you’ll have ten days to effect the return. The exception is Xfinity mobile devices – you get 14 days to return those.

Whatever returns option you choose, it’s best not to leave it till the last minute. Returns via UPS take a while to be processed by Comcast and even store returns can go wrong if you didn’t bring all the necessary devices and components along with you.

Cut the worry by getting started as soon as you can.

The final reason why you might want to return Xfinity equipment would be because hardware that’s still under warranty is faulty or because you want a refund.

For example, you can return a faulty Xfinity camera or video doorbell and be eligible for a full refund – provided you do so within 30 days of purchase or delivery.

For Xfinity mobile products, you must initiate any returns or exchanges of new devices within 14 days of receiving them. You can start the returns process on the Xfinity website.

If you’re hoping to return new accessories, you get 30 days to get the ball rolling. When you do, you’ll be given instructions and an additional window of time in which to return the goods.

1. How to Return Xfinity Equipment Through UPS

Xfinity covers the cost of using UPS for returns, so you needn’t worry about incurring an additional bill for courier services. To arrange for the return, you must log in to the Xfinity website.

Navigate to the “Equipment Return” page and use your Xfinity ID and password to trigger a return request. If you’ve forgotten these, you will have to go to a UPS store instead.

The Xfinity website will show you which devices are active on your account and what their serial numbers are.

Compare the serial numbers on the devices you want to return to make sure that you’re selecting the correct ones. Once you’re sure of that, select the devices and click the “continue” button.

You’ll be prompted to provide the reason why you’re returning your equipment. Select the appropriate reason and hit “confirm.”

Next, you will be asked how you want to go about completing the return. Let’s assume that you’ve chosen the UPS Prepaid shipping option.

Once you’ve done so, you must go back to the Device Management Center to get your shipping label. You should see an option labeled “Return Details” and an option to print your shipping label.

The top part of the label is for you to keep track of the shipment. The bottom part of the label is the part you should attach to the package itself.

You’ll have to return your Xfinity equipment in its original packaging. Pack it securely ensuring that all components are included and then attach the shipping label.

Now, you can choose between calling UPS to arrange for a pickup or else drop your package off at any UPS outlet.

Your return will only show on your account in about two weeks. Xfinity usually sends a confirmation email letting you know that it has received your return.

2. Return Xfinity Equipment in Store

Given that you don’t want to be penalized for a late return and may not be overly keen to track a parcel through UPS, you may find that returning your devices in store offers the greatest peace of mind.

To save time, you can locate your nearest outlet and even make an appointment via the Xfinity website.

When you choose this option, your return should reflect against your account almost immediately. However, do be sure that you’re given a receipt proving that you returned your Xfinity equipment.

Returning xFi Pods

Since xFi Pods are bought rather than leased, you’d ordinarily only return them if you want a refund or are taking advantage of the warranty. If you’re hoping for a refund, you only have 30 days from purchase to get one.

If you’re claiming against a warranty, be sure to check that your guarantee is still in effect.

2nd generation xFi Pods have a one-year hardware warranty. If you experience hardware issues after 30 days, you can’t get a refund, but you can get a warranty replacement.

You can find a xFi Pods return form on the Xfinity website. Complete it and wait for instructions on the next steps you should take.

You should receive these via email, and they’ll also include information on any refund you may be claiming or your waiting time on a hardware warranty claim.

Returning an Xfinity Camera or Video Doorbell

As with the xFi pods, you would only return these Xfinity products if you’re hoping to get a refund or are claiming against a warranty.

For refunds, you have a 30-day window following purchase or shipment – and you can only hope for one if the product looks as good as new and doesn’t have any signs of damage.

To effect a return for refund, you will need to visit an Xfinity retailer, and you will need to bring your receipt along with you.

If you’re taking advantage of a warranty, check the terms and conditions under tha package you have chosen. The Self Protection Limited Warranty or Xfinity Home Limited Warranty may apply.

If you’re claiming against a warranty and fulfill the necessary requirements to do so, you will receive replacement devices.

Xfinity Mobile Returns

For mobile phones, you only have 14 days from purchase or shipping date to process returns and exchanges. Accessories can be returned within 30 days.

If you’ve changed your mind after ordering, you can’t stop the fulfillment process. Instead, you’ll have to wait for your shipment to arrive and then return the goods.

To return a phone, begin by visiting the xfinity mobile website. Once you’ve logged into your account, you will be able to see a list of your devices.

Any devices that can still be returned will display an “exchange or return” option. After selecting it, follow the prompts.

Xfinity Mobile will send you a FedEx shipping label for your return which can either be collected or dropped at FedEx. But if you just want to exchange your phone for another one, you can do this at any Xfinity store.

Smartwatches, Tablets, and Accessories

You won’t be able to initiate a return of these items using your Xfinity accounts. Instead, you will have to initiate an inquiry through the Xfinity Assistant chatbot.

If your return is approved, you’ll receive a FedEx shipping label and you’ll have to arrange for shipping with FedEx, either by asking for a pickup or by handing in your parcel. However, if you just want a replacement item, it’s easiest to take it to an Xfinity outlet.

Returning Xfinity Phones and Accessories: Tips

You can receive refunds on eligible returns for devices you bought. However, don’t expect a full refund.

There will be a restocking fee, and if Xfinity isn’t happy with the condition in which they receive your return, they have the right to refuse to refund you. Warranty-related exchanges don’t incur these charges.

Whenever you return devices, be sure to back up any information you saved on them. Then delete the information saved to your device. If it’s an Apple device, protect your information by deactivating the “Find my iPhone” feature.

Pack up everything you received, including the manual, preferably in the box your device came in. Shipping boxes in which you received devices can also be reused – just be sure to stick your new shipping label over the original one to eliminate confusion.

If you’re using another shipping box, be sure to pack things in carefully, taking all the necessary precautions to avoid damage during the shipping process.

Note: whatever you ship off won’t be shipped back to you, so be sure that you’re eligible for refunds or warranty claims before attempting to return Xfinity products including Apple products bought through Xfinity.

You must also be very prompt about sending off your return. If it arrives late, you won’t receive a refund and if you still have balances owed, you’ll have to keep paying them.

How to Return Xfinity Equipment: Your Packing List

Since you have a limited time to effect a return of either leased or purchased equipment, it will be up to you to make sure that you’ve included everything you’re supposed to return.

In a sense, this makes returning your devices in person a better option. If you’ve missed anything, the staff there will be able to tell you what’s still needed – and you’ll still have time to get everything together.

If you’re having your return shipped, on the other hand, you can’t really afford to make any mistakes because there isn’t really time to correct them.

So, for example, Xfinity internet customers would have to pack up the gateway, power adapter or charging cable they received – as well as all the cables and accessories that came with the deal.

Voice bundle customers, on the other hand, will have to include more than just the phone they want to return. Its power adapter, base, and (if one was supplied) the stylus must also be included in the package.

TV users will have to send in the box along with its cables and the remote control; security users must send in the cameras and doorbells, and mobile customers must return both the phone in question as well as its charging cable.

Finally, Xfinity xFi complete clients must return both the gateway they received as well as their xFi pods.

What Happens if You Don’t Return Leased or Rented Equipment after Cancellation or Upgrade?

It’s important to understand the terms of your agreements with Xfinity. Some items are purchased, while others are rented or leased.

In the latter instance, penalties apply if you don’t return the goods during the required time frame following cancellations or upgrades.

If you miss return deadlines, and are still an Xfinity customer, you’ll be charged recurring fees for every item you didn’t return in time for the deadline.

These charges are currently $15 per month for unreturned voice equipment and TV boxes. If it’s a gateway, it could be as much as $300.

And, for those who closed their Xfinity accounts, the cost of the unreturned equipment is billed as a once-off charge.

Xfinity is serious about collecting what is owed to it, and if you should fail to pay, it will affect your credit rating. If you think you’ve been billed incorrectly, contact their accounts department as soon as possible.
