Are you preparing for a Juniper Networks certification?
Remember what we wrote some time ago: You Don’t Need Cisco to be a Great Network Engineer.
Some of you may have already jumped on the Juniper wagon, as certified Engineers are still in high demand.
Just recently the vendor released an interesting app to help all of us preparing for the next certification exam challenge!
Junos Genius is a free app that allows certification candidates to practice using flashcards or simulating a real exam.
The app, available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, has two working modes: Study Mode and Challenge Mode.
The former presents random questions from a poll of over 200 multiple choice exam questions, with immediate corrections, explained answers often accompanied by CLI snapshots.
The latter simulates a real exams, running against the clock.
A third option, called Challenge Instructor allows you to earn achievements answering virtual instructors questions, adding an element of gamification to Junos Genius app.
At the moment only the JNCIA-Junos exam is supported by Junos Genius, but we expect more certification coverage in the future versions.
JNCIA-Junos is, in fact, the basic Junos certification, the starting point for any specialized certification path in the networking or security domains.
In Junos Genius it’s possible to choose one of the different categories (topics) to prepare: JunOS fundamentals, User Interface Options, Junos configuration basics, Routing Fundamentals, etc.
I installed the app from Google Play on my Samsung Galaxy GT-7500 with no problem, and here you can see some sceenshoots.

This Junos Genius app is pretty cool, it won’t replace the study material and some hands-on experience with the devices (or a simulator) but for sure it allows a candidate to keep the topics “off the top of the head” while approaching an exam and maybe commuting to the office!
Surely a very smart move by Juniper Networks, in their effort to reach the one million certificate engineers.

Nice article… BTW I am not completely satisfied of this app.
Hi Fairy, why is that?
Nice write up about our new Junos Genius app. Glad you liked it. The JNCIS-SEC deck will be out mid-Nov, followed by JNCIS-ENT in Dec and JNCIS-SP in Q1 2014.
Hi Liz,
I’m glad you like it and thanks for the breaking news!
