A network engineer is a person responsible for the installation, management and monitoring of the computer networks of an organization.
The goal of a network engineer is to make sure that the network is operating as expected, providing the best performances and availability.

The job depends by the size and type of organisation. In a large telecom company for example, a network engineer will have specific responsibility for just one part of the network or a specific service. In small companies, the engineer is typically involved in all the IT related issues.
